Winter Solstice
2006
Winter solstice will soon be upon us. For all the darkness now, light will again be returning to the land.
A tender time this. Delicate, vulnerable and intense. A time to remember the child and the child-like inside us. Remember the magic… As the old saying goes, the brightest light can be found in the darkness. So too the subtle luminosity of soul, It can sometimes find more of an invitation to show its face when held by the dark with candles aglow than in the bright light of day. This can also be a trying time. When feelings not only of love but also of loneliness or loss can be stirred…Time perhaps to be gentle with ourselves and one other at this threshold of a new season....Hence this poem....
